The founders of Cesura are Laura Strickland and Alex Mack.
Laura Strickland is a freelance flutist with music degrees from Northwestern University and Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and with doctoral studies at the University of Maryland and University of Illinois.
In addition to playing with SoSco Duo, Laura is principal flute with Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble and teaches private flute lessons at Music Works Academy in Phoenix and Music Masters in Scottsdale. Before relocating to Phoenix, Laura performed on flute and piccolo in a wide range of ensembles throughout Chicago, Cincinnati, Seattle and Washington D.C.
Alex Mack is a freelance multi-instrumentalist specializing in guitar and voice. In addition to being a founding member of the SoSco Flute and Guitar Duo, he tours nationally with Lonely Street Productions, a nostalgia-based production company. Born and raised in Arizona, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Songwriting as well as studying guitar and voice. During college he performed over 1,000 shows for Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio and upon graduation he was hired by Princess Cruises as a principal orchestra guitarist, backing up guest entertainers, performing in production shows, and playing small combo and big band jazz sets.
